‘LET’S TWIST AGAIN’ – a one-day yoga workshop with Annie McGhee
Twisting poses will help restore your spine, hips and shoulder’s natural range of motion and assist in detoxifying your organs, and stimulating your circulation.
In this workshop we will explore numerous seated, standing and reclining twists. There will also be a graphical presentation of the anatomy of the hip, explaining why certain poses are difficult to access for some of us.
- Twists rotate the spine and stretch the muscles of the back; creating mobility of the back muscles & stimulates circulation. They allow us to release tension in the muscles of the spine and aid our digestion. Twists are detoxifying because of the squeeze and soak action whilst performing the pose. When we twist, all our internal organs are compressed, pushing out old blood and then when we release the twist, fresh blood can flow in, which is tremendously revitalising.
- Yoga twists can help you eliminate tension from deep within your body. This physical tension can show itself as emotional stress. Yoga twists help the muscles of the chest, back and shoulder relax and, when combined with the breath, allow stress to leave the body. Yoga twists are also invigorating and can help elevate your energy levels if you are feeling tired.
Please bring your own mat and bolster and wear comfortable, modest clothing.
