Purification through the Four Opponent Powers with Geshe Tsultrim
11 December @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm AEST$10
Negative karma earns a sort of “compound interest” that rapidly accumulates if you don’t purify daily.
“If you don’t purify it … your negative karma will keep doubling and re-doubling day by day, week by week, month by month, and year by year up to the end of your life and even one day’s negative karma will become as huge and heavy as a mountain—–in time, even one atom of unpurified negative karma can swell to the size of the Earth.” Lama Zopa Rinpoche
Geshe Tsultrim will teach us about the need for purification and how to engage in it successfully through the four opponent powers – effective practices used to purify non-virtuous imprints on the mindstream. 1) the power of the object, taking refuge in the Three Jewels and generating bodhicitta; 2) the power of regret, feeling deep regret for the negativity committed; 3) the power of resolve, determining not to repeat that negativity; and 4) the power of remedy, a practice such as Vajrasattva that effectively acts as an antidote to the negativity.
Join us for a joyful day of thought and practice with our precious teacher.
Geshe Phuntsok Tsultrim is immensely popular for the warm and approachable way in which he presents the Dharma and inspires our community. He became a monk at Sera Je Monastery in India, where he was awarded his Geshe degree (the equivalent of a doctorate in Buddhist studies) in 2005. He began teaching at Chenrezig Institute in 2014 after being chosen for our community by Lama Zopa Rinpoche. He teaches in Tibetan with the help of his professional translator, Ven. Kartson.
Geshe Tsultrim has a warm hearted, caring and practical approach to teaching Dharma. He has been the resident Geshe at Chenrezig Institute since 2014. Since then he has taught Dharma from both the Gompa and by the example he sets outside of the Gompa.
