Mindful Writing Retreat with Sharon Thrupp

29 January @ 10:00 am - 30 January @ 3:00 pm AEST

About Event:

This Retreat seeks to assist writers (or those willing to explore the possibility) with the skills necessary to find and share their voice with the world — share a personal story, keep a private journal, improve your writing skills, or simply increase your level of joy and satisfaction in your life.

Over the weekend we discover that writing can be transformative tool for self-discovery, meaningful connection to others and an overall sense of wellness.  We will use simple mindfulness techniques such as breathing, relaxation, meditation (including walking meditation), focus and insight exercises to enhance one’s powers of creativity and expression.

We will learn about the 4 Noble Truths of Mindful Writers and engage in writing exercises to  Find your Voice,  Share your Story, Write as Healing,  Keep a Journal,  Edit your Work and Where to publish.

Whether your goals are writing a memoir, blogging, public speaking, business communications, social media posting, personal essay or journal writing, this weekend is for students with all motivations. All levels of experience and goals are welcome.

There will be plenty of time to sit and write throughout the 2 days.  Please bring a book and pen to write in or laptop depending on your preference.  Retreatants will be able to join with Chenrezig’s activities in the Main Gompa including morning and evening activities.

About Teacher:

Sharon Thrupp lived in India for about 20 years and started her own travel company, Ekno Travels 16 years ago when, as a single woman living in India, she saw the need to provide safe, affordable travel for other single women.
Since then she has introduced countless travellers to the uniqueness of India, as well as helping to organise wonderful tours/pilgrimages for Chenrezig Institute. Living and working in India has taught Sharon many valuable lessons in life and she loves to entertain her fellow travelers with her stories.

Since returning to the Sunshine Coast, Sharon has been writing these stories down plus her numerous other experiences and has offered writing weekends to help others get their stories out. These writing weekends are targeted at the beginner through to the more experienced at Chenrezig to a growing audience.

The workshop is held in our peaceful Wellbeing Centre surrounded by foliage and wildlife. Click here for a map which shows the venue.  Copy of Chenrezig map 2021.docx
