Mani Retreat 2022
16 September @ 6:30 pm - 23 September @ 12:00 pm AEST$60.00 – $150.00
At the request of Lama Zopa Rinpoche, we schedule a Mani Retreat each year and have done so since Rinpoche himself started the practice with us in 2000. The practice engaged in is one written By His Holiness Dalai Lama himself and is a profound method for generating compassion for all.
Retreaters should plan to attend an introductory session at 6.30pm on Friday 16th Sept but are very welcome to come and help prepare the gompa during the afternoon. The retreat will continue with four sessions of led meditations per day, sessions which include visualising Chenrezig (Avalokiteshvara), generating great compassion for all beings, and reciting the mantra of Chenrezig OM MANI PADME HUM, until midday on Friday, 23rd September.
All are welcome to attend this beautiful retreat. There is no need to have taken the initiation. Materials and support will be provided.
Because of our limited staff and volunteer numbers, we will ask that retreaters perform certain karma yoga jobs and bring their own bed linen and towels.
About our retreat Leaders
Venerable Lozang Pema
Venerable Pema was ordained in 2007 by Khensur Rinpoche (Geshe Tashi Tsering) at Chenrezig Institute, following this she studied the FPMT Basic Program and worked as a Registered Nurse for several years. Pema has completed many Nyung Nä retreats and currently lives in Brisbane where she is studying psychology/counselling.
Venerable Gonpo encountered Buddhism when living in Japan and Thailand. After attending the Discovering Buddhism program and Lamrim retreat at Chenrezig Institute, he took refuge in 2004. Relocating to Brisbane in 2007, dharma study and practice became harder with the pressures of being a highschool teacher and raising two children. Nevertheless, Gonpo’s determination to practice remained strong resulting in ordination when family and work pressures started to ease. In late 2021, Gonpo let go of his 20 year teaching career to become a fulltime Dharma student. With plans to study overseas from late 2022, his determination to continue to progress along the path remains strong.
