Kind Kids Club

7 May @ 10:30 am - 11:50 am AEST

Special Celebration for the Buddha’s Birthday:

We are excited to invite you to a very special Kind Kids Club session this Saturday morning, to celebrate the Buddha’s birthday together!  Buddha’s Birthday is a major Buddhist festival celebrated by Buddhists throughout the world.

Venerable Tseten (a nun working with the Buddhist Education Services for Schools program in Brisbane primary schools) will lead children and parents in the beautiful ceremony of bathing the baby Buddha statue in the gompa.  Since ancient times, Buddhists all around the world celebrate the Buddha’s birthday by using fragrant water to bathe the statue of the infant Buddha – Prince Siddhartha. The act of pouring fragrant water three times over the shoulder of the infant Buddha holds much significance, as it symbolises the purification of our body, speech and mind to cultivate wisdom.

We will have a birthday cake and chai to share together, and a small gift for each child to take home.  We are hoping that Geshe Tsultrim, our resident Tibetan lama will be free to join the celebration for a short time also.

The activity is suitable for children of primary school age and up. Every month children aged 5-12 yrs & their families are invited to join us & nurture the Kind Kids Club on the first Saturday of the month.

Kind Kids Club is held on the first Saturday of every month and takes place in the Gompa (main teaching hall up on the hill) and its surroundings.

Inspired by The 16 Guidelines & S.E.E. (Social Emotional & Ethical Programs) each month we will explore different approaches including meditation, mindfulness with movement games, 16 Guidelines, S.E.E, Buddhist practices & stories or craft in a welcoming friendly environment.

Please register a place for each child via our website link here, so that we know how many children to cater for .

There is no fee, but a donation of $5 per child or $10 per family is suggested and can be made below.

BYO lunch if you wish to picnic in the Nalanda Garden together afterwards, or order lunch from the Big Love Cafe at least 24 hours ahead here:
