Chenrezig Institute Event Calendar
Introduction to Buddhism
7 August @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm AEST
An event every month that begins at 2:00 pm on day First of the month, repeating until 02/10/2021
Why did the Buddha teach? What did the Buddha have to say that had never been said before?
In this Introduction to Buddhism talk, Ben Isbel will guide students to start looking at some of the unique hallmarks of Buddha’s teachings – the Four Seals, the Four Noble Truths, the Two Truths – and see how all of these teachings lead to a single goal, like a hundred rivers that pass under a single bridge. That goal is the elimination of suffering.
Ben has been involved in the study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism for over 25 years and is a former student of the BP programme at Chenrezig Institute. His experience spans both Theravadin and Mahayana Buddhist traditions and he has previously taught at Tashi Khangmar Samdrup Ling, Khensur Rinpoche Geshe Tashi Tserings’s Brisbane based School of Buddhist Science.
After completing a B. of Psychology (Hons), Ben went on to complete a PhD in the neuroscience of mindfulness, where he developed a contemporary psychological model of mindfulness practice derived from Buddhist sources. He is a practical and engaging teacher, combining the scientific approach with his own practice and clear understanding.
