Discovering Buddhism – Refuge Retreat Weekend (with Refuge Ceremony)

13 August @ 9:00 am - 14 August @ 3:45 pm AEST

$60.00
Ven Kartson

About Event:

Taking refuge is the entrance to the Buddhist path and a profound way of enhancing our spiritual practice.
In this retreat, we reflect on the teachings and instruction from the Refuge module of the Discovering Buddhism program. We continue the exploration of the Lamrim, the graduated path to enlightenment, and provide an opportunity to meditate on some of the key points.

The retreat also provides a chance to ask questions about the teachings and participate in group discussions. It is an excellent opportunity to clear away any doubts you may have, or for those studying at home to enjoy group practice and meditation.

Everyone is welcome to attend even those who did not attend the teaching weekend.

This weekend will be led by Ven Kartson  and will include the opportunity to take refuge with Geshe Tsultrim on Sunday 14 August at  the 10.30 teaching. Only those attending in person will be able to take Refuge at this time.

Students wishing to take refuge for the first time should contact [email protected] for complete information.

About Teacher:

Venerable Kartsön (Yaki Platt) was born in Tel Aviv and previously trained and worked as a software engineer, mostly with the Israeli Defence Forces. Having met the Dharma in the mid 90s, he then moved to India in 2001 and studied conversational and classical Tibetan for four years.

Having come to Chenrezig Institute in Australia as a translator in 2005, he is now translating for Geshe Tsultrim, as well as leading the Basic Study Program tutorials.  He is a graduate of the Buddhist Studies Program and was ordained as a monk in 2014.

After registration students will receive a ticket which should include Zoom and YouTube links as well as a link to a dropbox which will contact the subject readings and meditations.
