An event every week that begins at 1:00 pm on Friday, repeating until 19/01/2024
Come and join Shannon Murphy to get creative in the Chenrezig Art Studio. These art sessions are an opportunity for people to slow down, connect with their creative potential and spend some time practising concentration in a relaxed and supported environment.
Each week will have varying art topics, depending on people’s interest. Topics range from:
        learning how to draw the face of a buddha;
        painting tsa tsas ;
        learning portraiture ;
        nature based art ; &
        intuitive painting
… as well as learning techniques in drawing and sculpting…
Â
Students are also welcome to bring back whatever artwork they have started and keep working on it during class sessions.
Shannon Murphy is a local artist and dharma student at Chenrezig Institute. Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Africa, Shannon Murphy followed a dream to Australia. Soaking up the Visual Arts studies in Brisbane, she’s gone on to explore multiple media, exhibiting, teaching, and participating in dynamic arts initiatives. Stepping out of the studio space into an open-air field study, Shannon has expanded from an individualistic self-exploration into an interactive, impressionistic study of different cultures in relation to their environment.
Inspired by the dharma teachings, such as non-harm and interconnection, as well as the natural world, sharing of stories, skills and knowledge, Shannon is curious to kindle the dynamic relationship of learning, reflecting, meditating, exploring, creating and teaching with a love of the environment and all beings in it. She is the founder of Nurture Creative Nature – a platform to facilitate art as a way to reconnect the internal world with the land on which we reside and depend.
All ages are welcome, beginners to practising artists as well.
Space is limited to 20 people per class.
To book in, email the art studio on artstudio@chenrezig.com.au or text Shannon on 0450 47 57 36 to let her know you’re coming.
You are also welcome to drop in and see if there is space on the day.Â
The recommended donation is $25 a session. You can pay on the day at the art studio.Â
